About this opportunity:

Are you a self-motivated, highly organized individual with a strong work ethic who is ready to prepare and deliver accurate weather reports on-air and online to our local communities?  Do you have on-air experience conveying viewer-driven forecasts effectively? If you have experience and success creating dynamic forecasts dedicated to serving and informing members of our community, we want to talk to you.   Come join our close-knit news team at KAPP/KVEW, the local ABC affiliate in the Yakima/Tri Cities market of Washington state.  We are a family-owned, people-first business and our communities are at the core of what we do and who we are.

Why Work for KAPP-KVEW TV?

Because we care about you and your life outside of work just as much as we value the work you do as a Meteorologist.  Members of our team get support and feedback, but also are held to high expectations to create the newscasts and weather reports our community needs.  The fast-growing Yakima and Tri-Cities areas (Kennewick/Pasco/Richland) offer 300 days of sunshine, amazing outdoor views, cultural diversity, stress-free commutes, proximity to Spokane, Seattle and Portland, and is known as the “Heart of Washington Wine Country.”

What you’ll do:

As a Meteorologist, our community will count on you to keep them informed and safe, especially during severe weather events.  When the weather takes an unexpected turn and you need to interrupt regular programing, you will be able to deliver life-saving information quickly and coherently with urgency and accuracy.  Your degree in meteorology, journalism, or related field, along with your sound editorial judgement, will be vital to your success  as you prepare and deliver weathercasts utilizing all available weather data and graphics computers.  NWA and/or AMS seal are preferred, but if you have on-air experience and a passion for forecasting, let’s talk.

What you’ll get in return:

You’ll get a supportive work environment with co-workers and managers who value your work, your time and your perspective. Our management team is committed to maintaining a culture where employees can flourish and grow, professionally and personally.

Pay range: $18.27/hour – $19.23/hour

Benefits: We offer employees and their families medical, dental, vision, prescription, life insurance, and Employee Assistance Program benefits. Employees are also offered long-term disability insurance, flexible spending account, 401(k), health savings account, employee referral program, and paid time off including vacation time equivalent to 80 hours/year depending on start date, 1 hour of sick time for every 40 hours worked, 2 personal days and 9 paid holidays.

What’s next?
