About this opportunity:
KAPP/KVEW Local News is seeking a Digital Producer/Photojournalist to join our news team. We’re looking for a full-time, motivated and creative visual storyteller who is willing to use traditional and non-traditional means to create compelling content for television, web and social media. You’ll work closely with our multi-skilled journalists on building a dynamic newscast while also utilizing web and social media to reach a wider audience. You will have an opportunity to work inside the newsroom, but also get out from behind the desk to help cover breaking news from the field, side by side with other journalists. This job is perfect for one who loves digital media but isn’t afraid to be in front or behind the camera either.
What you’ll do:
- Create digital content
- Post/publish to station social media accounts
- Collaborate with directors, producers, reporters and anchors
- Assist with LIVE shots when needed
- Gather and verify information regarding stories through interviews and observations
- Opportunity to create, shoot and produce stories of the community on digital and on-air platforms
What you’ll bring:
- Strong work ethic

- Ability to make decisions under pressure
- Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds
- Willingness to work beyond normal shifts as necessary to support our news coverage
- Ability to work well on minimal supervision
- Computer literacy

- Newsroom computer system
- How to shoot a LIVE shot
- How to shoot short and long-form stories
- Editing of material
- Creating longform on-air and digital content
- Understanding of media law
- Audio, visual and lighting skills
