News 8 Now/WKBT-TV/News8000.com, Western Wisconsin’s leading TV station and digital source for news, is looking for a talented journalist who can effectively communicate weather information. The right candidate will lead our weekend weather coverage and cross train to cover all weather shifts to deliver forecasts for television, digital and social audiences.  You’ll also produce weather storytelling content to help keep viewers informed.  Creativity, flexibility, and an interest in digital and social media is a must.

Here are a few things you’ll be doing as part of this job:

  • Prepare and deliver urgent, compelling weather forecasts driven by impact to the consumer and connect with viewers across all platforms.
  • Aggressively handle severe weather coverage with a priority on keeping people safe and well informed.
  • Deliver engaging live reports, especially in breaking news and weather situations.
  • Innovate and experiment with the latest technology in digital.  We need someone willing to share their ideas on how we can continue to be a leader in digital and social content.

Here are a few more job requirements:

  • BA/BS in Meteorology, Journalism or related field
  • Experience in both weather forecasting and news reporting is a plus
  • Ability to excel under tight deadlines
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record
