Chief Meteorologist

WKBT, the number one station in La Crosse/Eau Claire, Wisconsin (DMA 129) is seeking an energetic and dynamic Chief Meteorologist to lead the News 8 Storm Team and take our coverage to the next level. The ideal candidate must be able to deliver the essential message, track severe, disruptive, and inconvenient weather and deliver a forecast that helps viewers plan their day across a hyphenated DMA. We’re looking for someone who is organized, driven, and can think beyond the green screen to incorporate viewer pictures/video, live cameras, and news resources into a cohesive market-leading product.

Expectations:

• Must be a strong communicator on-air and online.
• Produce graphics that are engaging and easy to understand.
• Participate in the newsroom and in editorial meetings.
• Engage with viewers via social media.
• Handle severe weather calmly and effectively.
• Lead our morning and weekend meteorologists.
• Be passionate about and involved in the community.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Degree in Meteorology is required.
• Three to five years of experience as a TV meteorologist.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
